What happens after completing motorcycle financing
Making your final weekly payment isn't quite the last step โ here's exactly what happens as you move from financed rider to full owner.
1. Your final instalment includes the logbook transfer fee
A logbook transfer fee is payable with your last instalment, along with any associated registration costs. This is what allows Baikal to formally move the motorcycle's registration into your name.
2. The motorcycle is registered in the seller's name until this point
Throughout your financing period, the motorcycle stays registered to the seller as security for the loan. This is normal and doesn't affect your right to use and ride the motorcycle under your agreement.
3. Baikal arranges the logbook transfer
Once all repayment and ownership conditions in your signed agreement are complete, Baikal arranges for the logbook to be transferred into your name.
4. Keep your insurance active until the transfer is confirmed
Continue treating the motorcycle as covered until you've confirmed the transfer is fully processed โ this protects you in the transition period.
What to do next
- Confirm with your branch that your final payment has cleared
- Ask for confirmation of the logbook transfer timeline
- Keep any transfer documents you receive in a safe place
Once ownership transfers, the motorcycle is fully yours. For everything that led here, see how it works from application to ownership.
