Motorcycle maintenance for better daily earnings
A well-maintained motorcycle breaks down less, holds its resale value better, and keeps you earning instead of sitting idle at a mechanic's. A few habits go a long way.
Weekly checks
- Tyre pressure and tread condition
- Brake feel — front and rear
- Chain tension and lubrication (petrol motorcycles)
- Lights, indicators and horn
Regular servicing
- Follow the manufacturer's recommended service intervals for oil and filter changes
- Don't skip small issues — a minor noise today is often a costly repair next month
- Use genuine or trusted parts where possible
For electric motorcycles
- Charge using the recommended method and avoid letting the battery run fully flat where possible
- Keep charging ports clean and dry
- Watch for any drop in range and get it checked early
Protecting your investment
Remember that under your financing agreement, you're responsible for maintaining the motorcycle, and it must be serviced regularly. Good maintenance also protects your resale value and your daily earning capacity — it's one of the few costs that pays for itself.
